All Alaska Sweepstakes - Checkpoints!

The 100th Aniversary of the All Alaska Sweepstakes sled dog race, takes place
March 26, 2008. The route winds from Nome to Candle and return along the old
telephone line. This historic trail last sported a race in 1983. In 1909 it was run
by John Johnson in only 74 hours.

Checkpoints are established along the route to provide shelter, communications,
food, and first aid to racers, participants, press and enthusiasts. This page
is a focus point for the checkpoints and the volunteers manning them.

As details are known of each checkpoint, it will be posted here. A listserv has
been set up to coordinate among all checkpoint personnel and volunteers. See
below for contact info.
